David Hunt is an unusually tall and handsome man who enjoys writing his own biographical notes.
His first book, Girt: The Unauthorised History of Australia, won the 2014 Indie Award for Non-Fiction, with the sequel, True Girt, shortlisted for Audiobook of the Year at the 2017 Australian Book Industry Awards and for the 2017 Russell Prize for Humour Writing.
David children’s picture books, The Nose Pixies and My Real Friend, prove that he is able to write books without the word Girt in the title.
David wrote and presented the ABC Radio Australian history podcast, Rum, Rebels & Ratbags, and an animated Defining Moments of Australian History video series for the National Museum of Australia. He will be a presenter on History Channel’s Aussie Inventions That Changed the World later this year.
David was a speaker at TedxSydney 2017 and regularly writes for Australian newspapers and magazines and discusses Australian history and culture on radio.
He has a birthmark that looks like Tasmania, only smaller and not as far south.
