Ten must-have ingredients for baking strong, memorable characters
with Rachael Johns

Ernest Hemingway said, ‘When writing a novel, a writer should create living people. People. Not characters.’ In this workshop, best-selling Australian author, Rachael Johns, will walk participants through the ten ingredients she uses to create real people that leap off the page and take over the story.

This workshop will explore everything from how a person’s past will shape their present, to archetypes, F-words and much, much more. Using examples from popular bestselling novels and exercises to get you thinking about your own characters, Rachael will give you practical advice on how to elevate your novel.
