World Building: more than the when and where
with James Manning

Just like creating memorable characters, world building is an essential element in all good novels and short stories. The term is often associated with the elaborate fantasy worlds created by great authors like Tolkien and Rowling and the shorter stories of Bradbury and Vonnegut but it is also an essential part of all good stories.

Through discussion of the great works and interactive writing activities, J. P. Manning, author and teacher, explores the intricacies of world building – what it is, the elements involved and how to achieve it in your stories.
