The Festival

                                           Director’s Welcome

Hello and a warm Capcoast Welcome to Stories By The Sea 2023! We are delighted to be back for our third Capricorn Coast Writers Festival, to be held from 2nd - 4th June.

Holding an arts event such as ours in regional Queensland is, we feel, an important step in addressing isolation and we are as keen as ever to bring a high calibre, welcoming and inclusive festival to our wonderfully creative community. We love that our readers and writers don’t have to travel far to attend a writers festival - it’s right here on their doorstep.

This time around, we have taken some giant leaps in terms of spreading the word about the festival and showcasing our region. You may have noticed our billboards - three in total - all on the highway and all inbound to Rockhampton. A major goal is to tell the world about this fabulous corner of the country. Sometimes described as a country town at the seaside, Yeppoon is full of friendly locals, excellent eateries, interesting shops and an array of accomodation options to suit all pockets. We have galleries on the coast, plenty of street art and an abundance of creativity. Our beaches are spectacular and we are just a stone’s throw from the Keppel Islands - paradise!

Our venues for CCWF23 are equally impressive. As always, we are indebted to Livingstone Shire Council and Keppel Coast Arts Council for their support and we’re proud to host sessions at Yeppoon Town Hall, The Hub, Yeppoon Library, Salt Apartments Conference Rooms and the Figtree Gallery.

We have a packed programme for readers and writers alike, presented by the best of the best. There is something for everyone and we can’t wait to share the festival with you all.

See you in June!
