The festival

Director’s Welcome

Hello and the warmest of welcomes to the inaugural Capricorn Coast Writers Festival.

Our community here on the Capricorn Coast is as diverse as our spectacular region and the coast is awash with passionate creatives who love to share, grow and explore. We have readers, writers and storytellers of all descriptions, so what better way to celebrate our beautiful corner of the world, than by hosting a writers festival? And here it is!

The festival is for us all. It’s about reading, writing, curiosity and a love of learning. Some of the most experienced and exciting voices in Australia are coming to share their passion and knowledge with us. We have workshops run by the best in the business, fascinating in conversation events, storytelling, hands on learning and more. Readers will love the ready access to authors and their writing processes; Behind-the-scenes is always fascinating! You’re new to writing? Wonderful! This festival will take you through your next few steps. You’re an established author? Brilliant! There’s always something new to learn and who knows what nuggets of gold you’ll discover? You just love books? Perfect! You’re amongst friends.

I thank our wonderful community for its support and enthusiasm for the festival. This big-hearted readiness to give something a go has been truly inspirational. My hope for this, our inaugural Capricorn Coast Writers Festival, is for supporters, contributors and attendees to leave our little pocket of paradise having satisfied their curiosity and found inspiration, too.
